Rivercity Innovations awarded multiyear LoRa sensor engineering contract with EMS

RCI wins multiyear LoRa sensor contract with EMS

(Wednesday, June 23, 2021) – Rivercity Innovations (RCI), a Saskatchewan-based tech startup, has been awarded a multi-year agreement with Environmental Material Sciences (EMS) to engineer, develop, and provision LoRa sensors for hydrocarbon monitoring. RCI joins EMS’s consortium team, which received Sustainable Development Technologies Canada (SDTC) funding from the Government of Canada. EMS integrates these LoRa sensors within its soil remediation technologies for hydrocarbon monitoring applications.

Jeff Shirley, CEO of RCI states “Developing technologies for a client who is world-renowned in their knowledge of soil science, soil remediation, and is now using this knowledge to improve our environment and communities is an amazing opportunity for RCI and our company. Being chosen to work with Steve Siciliano and EMS’s team with their companies in many industries worldwide, particularly oil and gas, will not only benefit our company but also bring value-add to the environment through EMS’s proprietary and innovative environmentally friendly clean tech. Having the opportunity to work with EMS, Federated Cooperatives Limited, and SaskTel on this project in Canada speaks to the quality of work we can deliver and our ability to engineer custom solutions for IoT markets.”

“We are truly excited about our growing relationship with RCI,” said Steve Siciliano, CEO, EMS Inc. “Real-time data that stakeholders can trust is key to our value proposition. An essential part to offering this kind of data is trusting our products, their components, and the proven quality of the RCI sensors giving us the confidence to take our game-changing technology to market,” Siciliano said.

Rivercity Innovations will be creating several new positions at their head office in Saskatoon as a result of this agreement. RCI will continue the advanced development of the LoRa sensors and technologies used by EMS in their soil remediation processes. New business from this EMS relationship will drive the continued growth of RCI, along with related work using RCI’s LoRa technology platform with SaskTel and other clients.
